Let’s break down TAKE HOME PAY!

The two graphs below show where 100% of the client-paid revenues go, assuming the Guild Member earns $100k/year, is a single tax filer with no dependents, and has average marketplace health insurance coverage for medical, dental, and vision.

Guild Members: $3,913.96

Benefits include PTO at a monthly value of $239.85 and a 401k match of up to $155/month. That’s an additional $394.85 per month that goes to YOU!

$3,519.11 + $394.85 = $3,913.96.

On Your Own: $3,892.90

This chart shows annual tax preparation fees if spread across 12 months evenly.

… I mean, you could do everything yourself and take home less dough each month, but you don’t have to.

That’s right, you could actually take home MORE money as a Guild Member AND have access to better benefits, automated tax compliance, tools, support, and safety nets!

If you’re tired of figuring it all out on your own and would like to outsource the administrative headaches, join today!

The Self-Employer’s Hierarchy of Needs

  • If you’re laughing at the word “abundance” because you can’t even imagine getting to the top of this list, THIS MESSAGE IS FOR YOU.

We’ve felt like retirement was out of reach, too. The only times we’ve ever contributed to our own retirement was when it was being matched by our employer- because it was money up for grabs.

So we are creating that same situation for YOU.
Please invest in your future. If you do, we will MATCH your contribution up to 3%. So if you only invest 3% of your earnings towards your retirement, you’re getting 6%!

    Yes, for real.

Start thinking about Future You, not only Present You. Both versions are important.

    Abound!

  • Paid time off is a beautiful thing. It means your bills won’t go unpaid because you needed a break- or because work was slow- or because you had an opportunity to do something that makes you happy.

Lots of things in life ebb and flow, but the bills keep coming in.

PTO helps you feel like you can unplug and actually focus on something besides work for a little while. Go have some fun!

    RELAXED!

  • Are you tired of handling admin tasks like figuring out taxes, creating proposals and invoices from scratch on your time off?

Have you even written a contract to use with clients, or did you just make a handshake agreement and start working?

Look, we get it. You’re trying to hustle and make ends meet in this new lifestyle, but we believe that working smarter is better than working all the time.

We help you with proposal, contract, and invoice templates that you can put together quickly and look professional af.

Oh, and since you’re a W-2 employee through Guilds with Benefits, you can leave your tax worries behind! You get to enjoy quick and easy tax seasons from now on.

    PEACEFUL!

  • Are you on marketplace health insurance and paying a ton?
Do you have a “catastrophic” plan that only pays out if you have majorly expensive medical procedures?
Are you on OHP and know that you can’t earn above a certain amount or else you’ll get kicked off of your OHP, so you simply continue to make less?
Are you uninsured entirely and take the tax hit at the end of the year?

We don’t judge… but we are concerned!

As a Guild Member your physical health, mental health, teeth, and eyes are all covered.
Because we’re all humans with bodies and minds that need tending to.

    PROTECTED!

  • Do you miss having co-workers to bounce ideas off of?
Do you wish you could ask someone for help with something that has you stumped?
Do you wish you didn’t have to think of EVERY. LITTLE. THING.?

    We gotchu!

You now have an admin team (us) to help you with back-end things and fellow Guild Members to call on when you need more industry-specific help.

    SUPPORTED!

  • If you’re like us, you’ve probably worried about the “what if’s” of freelancing.
What if I break my arm and can’t work for 6 weeks?
What if my family member needs me to care for them after a surgery?
What if another pandemic happens and suddenly there are no customers?

That’s why it’s so important that you have access to basic supports like Unemployment, Workers Compensation, and Paid Leave Oregon.

    SECURED!

  • It’s hard to do good work when you’re stress about meeting your basic needs.

That’s why we pay you an advance for the hours you’re working- to front you some cash when you’re in between client payments.

    STABILIZED!

FAQs

  • Guild member gross wages are 62% of total revenues, GWB keeps 13%, and the other 25% goes to Guild Member taxes and benefits in GWB's role as the employer.

Because of our large group rates- and because the tax system favors employer/employee relationships over 1099, you could even end up taking home more than if you did everything yourself.

The 13% that we keep covers our administrative staff, marketing, subscription costs, professional services, supplies, and any surprises we might have in store for our Guild Members!

  • If you have a lot of work-related expenses or you already have a separate business entity, we would suggest separating your earnings from your business entirely.

This will allow you to contract with and invoice your business for your labor as a Guild Member. Meanwhile, you business simply recognizes your labor payments as another business expense, along with all of the other business expenses.

This is a great option for shop owners and other folks who have more business expenses.

  • You are certainly able to stay on your spouse’s plan if you like and choose to waive our coverage, but we would encourage you to look at how much your plan costs under your spouse. Most employers don’t contribute anything towards dependent health insurance premiums, so switching to one of our plans could save your household over $500 per month! It’s worth checking out!

Another option would be to be “double covered”. Folks who are lucky enough to have double coverage typically pay little to nothing for doctor visits, procedures, and prescriptions. This could be a good option for folks who anticipate costly medical procedures, frequent visits, or prescriptions.

If you’re hesitant to make the switch, please know that if you ever decided to leave Guilds with Benefits, that would trigger a “Qualifying Life Event”, which would allow you to go back onto your spouse’s plan outside of open enrollment.

No strings here, just benefits if they’re useful to you.

  • No way. Guild Membership is AT WILL employment, and you’re free to leave whenever you like.

We truly want you to succeed and get the most out of your career- so no hard feelings if you decide to leave

The heart of what we are trying to do is provide options for self-employers, because there currently aren’t any. And that’s crazy to us.

If someone joins to get themselves from point A to point B, then they decide to leave the guild, we see that as a success!

Likewise, if someone joins a guild, and they love it and stay a Guild Member for the rest of their career, that’s a win, too!

We’re just tired of people not having any options.
